Standing in the path of the dark sea,

You talk to me about love.

Underneath the blackness of the night,

Stars are the commas between your words.

All I have to give you is my love
But I will give you it all

Where the sea meets the sky

One of the most beautiful things is how everyday the sea and the sky look completely different. Think of all the days there have been since we were aware of the world, and each one of those days has never looked the same. I love looking at the sea until it reaches the sky and wondering what exists beyond the point that I can see. I know it will just be more water but sometimes I stand on the beach and look in front of me and long to travel across the sea in a a straight line until I reach something I can't see from where I am.

(I am aware this is my first post of the year so I should have probably come back with a bang, but this is all I have. Hopefully I can offer more at a later date)

In a way the purpose of art is to create impact and meaning and to resonate with something inside people. George Shaw's work does that brilliantly. His paintings bring truthfulness and beauty to the everyday and you can't deny the immaculate skill shown in his work. I don't think he needs to win The Turner Prize for people to recognise that.
I'm just getting emotional about art again.

"It's a landscape that's ill, it's fading away. The hedges are falling apart. The tarmac's got cancer.
The sky's just about to leak." George Shaw
